Habitat is a space which man creates in his place of abode.
In autumn 1998 I joined the Polish Allotment - holders' Union, applied for a plot of earth and got one. A 360-square-metre allotment with a small brick house is my space on a micro-scale.. I became euphoric - I want to create something out of it by myself; I throw away things which belonged to previous gardeners, I prune trees, move a lawn, repair a summer house…
The functioning of allotment gardens is based on a fragile social contract, which assumes that you can leave your property and no-one will destroy it. My video film concerns a traumatic experience undergone by those people whose private space has been invaded by a STRANGER…
