Observed / Observing Garden
(installation: canary, soil, plants, gardening tools, pictures representing eyes, easels)
International Artists's Workshop "Sources"
Oronsko, Centre for Polish Sculpture, 1998

My work rises from a critical attitude towards the homocentric contemporary art. An idea of the installation depends on a confrontation of two worlds: a world of culture and a world of nature. Both of them arouse a respect of a man, however their existence is mutually parallel. A confrontation doesn't cause an interaction. Both worlds remain indifferent towards each other: plants grow, a canary sings and pictures stay on easels. Nature doesn't need art.
